If you want to edit your StepMania so that you can have more mods for songs (EX: c500, c550, etc.) then this is for you:
Note: Make sure that StepMania is NOT running
Pt. 1) Go to start and open My Computer > C: (or whatever hard drive Stepmania is installed to) > Program Files > StepMania > Themes.
Pt. 2) Now open the folder of whatever Theme you are currently using; then right-click the "metrics" file and choose Open With > Notepad and then click "Ok".
Pt. 3) Click somewhere inside of the text document that you opened in Notepad, then hold "Ctrl" and press "F".
Pt. 4) Make sure that this "Search Bar" is dedicated to search down, and search for "c4".
Pt. 5) It should have [ScreenOptionsMaster] at the top, and below it should be "Speed=" then the number of Speed "mods" you made after the "=".
Pt. 6) Keep "SpeedDefault=mod,1x" the same, unless you want the default speed to stay at something else rather than normal.
Pt. 7) You need to make a line starting with "Speed,1=mod,1x;name,x1" if it's not already there, of course.
Pt. 8) Every time you make a new mod, make sure it's below the previous mod that you made; and make sure that the numbers go in order...
Heres an example of mine:
[ScreenOptionsMaster]
# Player options
Speed=17
SpeedDefault=mod,1x
Speed,1=mod,1x;name,x1
Speed,2=mod,C200;name,C200
Speed,3=mod,C400;name,C400
Speed,4=mod,C425;name,C425
Speed,5=mod,C450;name,C450
Speed,6=mod,C475;name,C475
Speed,7=mod,C500;name,C500
Speed,8=mod,C525;name,C525
Speed,9=mod,C550;name,C550
Speed,10=mod,C575;name,C575
Speed,11=mod,C600;name,C600
Speed,12=mod,C625;name,C625
Speed,13=mod,C650;name,C650
Speed,14=mod,C675;name,C675
Speed,15=mod,C700;name,C700
Speed,16=mod,C725;name,C725
Speed,17=mod,C750;name,C750
Pt. 9) The "Speed,1=mod" always has to be one higher (of a number) than the previous "mod" that you made; and then after "Speed,1=mod" make a "," (comma), then type in the speed mod name, then a ";" and finally "name," and then your speed mod name again. Note: Don't use any spaces.
Pt. 10) The "Speed=" is a command that adds up the total number of mods, so in that case, the "Speed=" command has to have the number of mods you made after the "=".
Ex: If the last line / numbered mod is "Speed,17=mod,C750;name,C750" then it would make "Speed=17".
Pt. 11) After you've figured this out, go to File, then save it, DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME!!!
Pt. 12) Exit the "Metrics" file from notepad, and now open up the "Languages" folder (it's inside the "Themes" folder).
Pt. 13) Right click the "English" file and open it with notepad.
Pt. 14) You know the drill, hold "Ctrl" and press "F" and search for "c4" in the text.
Pt. 15) Every mod you made previously to this, will have to be "=" to itself (no spaces).
Pt. 16) Make sure you don't forget anything, mine looks like this:
x1=x1
C200=C200
C400=C400
C425=C425
C450=C450
C475=C475
C500=C500
C525=C525
C550=C550
C575=C575
C600=C600
C625=C625
C650=C650
C675=C675
C700=C700
C725=C725
C750=C750
C800=C800
C1000=C1000
Flat=FLAT
Pt. 17) After you're done save it and close it.
Pt. 18) Exit the themes folder and any other StepMania folder, and run your game.
NOTE: this tutorial was not made for those "special" people that want to make fancy names for their mods, so if you want to make a fancy name for your modification, then get the hell out of this tutorial!
NOTE: I wouldn't make anymore than 17 or 18 mods, otherwise you could get an error, so keep it on the low.
Thanks,
Administrator
